Beijing, August 3, 2018. Swiss Luxury watch manufacturer Carl F. Bucherer co-starred with its Global Brand Ambassador Li Bingbing in the science-fiction movie The Meg. The world debut of the movie was held at the Water Cube in Beijing last night. The famous actress was joined on the red carpet by the movie’s director, Jon Turteltaub, and the stars of the film, including Jason Statham, Winston Chao, Ruby Rose, and Cliff Curtis.

Talking about her role in the movie, Li Bingbing said : “ It was very exciting and challenging. My character is a female scientist who is faced with a lot of challenges in deep waters. During filming, we had to make full use of our imagination to act out reactions and be at the peak of our physical fitness to create the best scenes. It was a great honor for me to wear a Carl F. Bucherer watch in a setting in which I was able to do things I thought I would never be able to do. When I look at my Patravi ScubaTec, I always sense a great feeling of accomplishment. ”
Sascha Moeri, CEO of Carl F. Bucherer, is proud to continue the Lucerne-based watch manufacturer’s successful involvement with the film industry : “ In this stunning movie, our Global Brand Ambassador Li Bingbing plays her role with the highest degree of passion and dedication. We are delighted that, with her wearing the Patravi ScubaTec, one of our watches also plays a starring role in the movie. ”

About Carl F. Bucherer
Carl F. Bucherer is an internationally renowned Swiss watch manufacturer founded in 1888 in the city of Lucerne. The independent manufacturer of watches for the luxury segment is part of the Bucherer Group and is headed by Jörg G. Bucherer, representing the third generation of the Bucherer family at the helm of the company. Sascha Moeri has been CEO of Carl F. Bucherer since 2010.
The company has a global presence in more than 25 countries, with 200 employees worldwide and branches in China, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, and the United States, including a number of international distribution partners. Timepieces and watch movements are developed in the Carl F. Bucherer factory, where around 25,000 watches are produced each year. A significant milestone in the history of the company was the development of a movement driven by an exterior rotor. The peripheral rotor that powers the watch revolves around the movement and provides an unhindered view of the exquisite work of the horological craftsmanship, which is not concealed by a conventional winding rotor.
Carl F. Bucherer was the first manufacturer to pioneer the series production of the peripheral rotor – another milestone in the company’s 130-year history of excellent quality and refinement. Further information can be found at carl-f-bucherer.com

The new Senator Cosmopolite is the watch for modern globetrotters
Many travelers consider moving from one time zone into another a part of everyday life, whether traveling for business or leisure. The Senator Cosmopolite is designed to meet the complex demands of today’s world travelers. First introduced in 2015 in red and white gold versions, the cosmopolitan masterpiece from Glashütte Original is available from 2018 in an elegant stainless steel version as well. With its innovative time zone mechanism, which displays the time of day or night at home and destination in each of the 35 world time zones currently in use, the Saxon manufactory wraps all the time in the world around the globetrotter’s wrist. This exceptional timepiece is available immediately from all Glashütte Original Boutiques and from selected dealers.

Featuring minimalistic design and a sophisticated time zone mechanism, the latest version of the Senator Cosmopolite from Glashütte Original proves the ideal companion for contemporary cosmopolitans and world explorers. Just in time for the start of the travel season, the timepiece, presented to great acclaim this last spring, is now available worldwide.
Essential design for contemporary world travelers
The most recent interpretation of the timepiece introduced in 2015 is presented in a contemporary design language that is understood all over the world. Clear and reduced to essentials, it corresponds to the characteristic style of Glashütte Original, and ensures that its wearer makes an elegant appearance – no matter where his next journey takes him.
Dark blue poire hands glide along their paths over the matte white dial with nonchalant ease – passing, among other things, new blue Arabic numerals and indexes. Black details offer striking accents in the various displays – the Glashütte Original Panorama Date, for example, the power reserve display, or the stylised starry night sky of the day/night display at 9 o’clock. Two slender windows are positioned harmoniously in the curve of the dial at 8 o’clock; they indicate the destination, using the IATA codes in one of three colours, taking Daylight Saving and Standard Time into account. The bright silver threads circumscribing the two auxiliary dials, too, combine understatement with incisiveness, nicely complementing the alternately satin-brushed and highly polished 44 mm stainless steel case, itself enhanced by a dark blue Louisiana alligator leather strap with pin buckle or foldover clasp.
Path breaking mechanics
Just as its contemporary form makes reading the timepiece a pleasure at any destination, the superb construction of its movement proves convincing on all continents. Thanks to the sophisticated 89-02 manufactory movement, the Senator Cosmopolite displays the time of day in two time zones at once, without the wearer having to make any calculations himself. A time zone ring offers a choice among all 35 world time zones currently in use, each represented by the official IATA code for an international airport located in the relevant time zone.
Impressively complex – and yet a perfect example of intuitive operation: the 89-02 movement transforms its spectacular mechanics into fascinating ease of use. Supplied with energy from an off-centre rotor, it has a power reserve of at least 72 hours and provides high operational stability by means of a regulator–free regulation system with swan-neck spring. Last, but not least, the sapphire crystal case back offers an excellent view of the superb decorative finishings and characteristic details of the fine art of German watchmaking, including Glashütte stripe finish, blued screws and the precious handengraving and bi-colour galvanisation of the balance cock.

]]>The post RAYMOND WEIL Freelancer Calibre RW 1212 Watch appeared first on Core Sector Communique.
]]>Aligning with the finest Swiss watchmaking traditions, RAYMOND WEIL is innovating by creating a new movement in collaboration with Sellita. This exclusive movement was developed and designed by the R&D department of the Geneva watch company and produced by the movement manufacturer based in Le Crêt-du-Locle, in the Jura Mountains.

Its distinctive characteristic is the 6 o’clock front-dial positioning of its regulating organ. Named Calibre RW1212 as a nod to the postal code of the company headquarters in Grand-Lancy, it pays tribute to 40 years of RAYMOND WEIL creations and to the Brand’s determination to highlight the richness of watchmaking expertise, while infusing it with its uniquely free-spirited attitude.
“Calibre RW1212 is a tribute to the present and a symbol of the future. Its name picks up the digits of our address here in Switzerland: 1212, standing for the Geneva suburb Grand-Lancy. It symbolizes the path we have traveled to date and the free-spirited approach we bring to watchmaking. It is our first in-house movement, born from our partnership with the Swiss movement manufacturer Sellita”, said Elie Bernheim, CEO, RAYMOND WEIL.
RAYMOND WEIL introduces a model with a boldly distinctive design, notably featuring an openworked dial revealing the regulating organ at 6 o’clock. The balance-and-spring assembly, held by two bridges, reveals a construction echoing that of the most beautiful tourbillon regulators. The freelancer “Calibre RW1212” is a two-hand model providing an understated display of the hours and minutes.
It took 18 months for the R&D team at RAYMOND WEIL to develop the movement and design the dial revealing the regulating organ at 6 o’clock. All the elements closely relating to the regulating organ were redesigned and pared down, so as to endow this in-house movement with its subtle transparency. The calibre then sprang to life in the hands of the Sellita watchmakers.
Framed by a 42.5mm steel case, the balance-and-spring assembly is the focus of attention. The diamond-polished balance wheel and skeletonized bridges ensure transparent visibility extending to the very heart of the watch. Powered by a mechanical self-winding movement, the freelancer “Calibre RW1212” beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a 38-hour power reserve. Its oscillating weight is adorned with a “Côtes de Genève” motif and engraved with the RAYMOND WEIL logo. The movement is built in such a way as to showcase its beautiful mechanism on the dial side. The strategic organs positioned above the mainplate and the symmetry of the bridges accentuate the architectural nature of this elegant and beautifully balanced model.
The freelancer “Calibre RW1212” comes in several versions, featuring a silver-toned or black dial teamed with a steel case and bracelet, or with a leather strap, as well as in two-tone variations featuring matching bracelets or leather straps.
As emphasized by ElieBernheim: “The introduction of this in-house calibre also marks the ‘revival’ or our ‘PRECISION MOVEMENTS’ slogan that first appeared in a 1994 advertising campaign and which earned RAYMOND WEIL a number of awards. A slogan evoking the precision that we cherish, painstaking attention to detail, the constant quest for quality, as well as unfailing respect for watchmaking skills and talents. It showcases the philosophy that drives us and honors the women and men who daily contribute to making RAYMOND WEIL an innovative and creative House.”

On a single full charge it can run for up to six months in total darkness.

]]>Limited Edition Device from LG is More Jewelry Than Wearable
SEOUL,2015 — In collaboration with U.S. retail jewelry company REEDS Jewelers, LG Electronics (LG) will introduce a premium limited edition smartwatch, LG Watch Urbane Luxe. This luxurious wearable was designed with a specific wearer in mind and is adorned in 23-karat gold and gorgeous alligator leather strap set in an exclusive piano-gloss lacquer case. Available starting at the end of October, the LG Watch Urbane Luxe will retail for approximately USD 1,200.
The LG Watch Urbane Luxe will sport a deployment clasp for a fitted, elegant look that isn’t bulky. Invented by Louis Cartier in 1910, the use of a deployment clasp makes this timepiece even more exclusive and unique. The alligator band itself is handcrafted at the highest level of craftsmanship, undergoing 50 separate steps in its creation, handled lovingly by 30 experienced leatherworkers. The 23-karat gold used in the LG Watch Urbane Luxe is stronger and harder than the 24-karat gold used in jewelry and heavier than the 18-karat gold used in traditional luxury watches.
“Wearable devices shouldn’t be thought of as an extension of one’s smartphone but an extension of oneself,” said Chris Yie, vice president and head of marketing communications for LG Mobile Communications Company. “This blending of craftsmanship and technology is a natural evolution of the smartwatch, which is becoming more of a lifestyle accessory than a piece of hardware. We think this is a good direction for wearables and we want to encourage this transformation.”
Each of the 500 limited edition watches will be engraved with its own serial number for authenticity and available initially in the USA for pre-order at www.REEDS.com later this month or by visiting any REEDS Jewelers location. Visitors to IFA 2015 can see this beautiful work of art for themselves along with other mobile devices from LG in Hall 18 of Messe Berlin from September 4-9.

New Delhi, December 30, 2014: From the inventors to the workers on the factory floor, Discovery Science’s new series MANUFACTURED tells the real story behind the creation of the products people use every day. MANUFACTURED will premiere on January 12th and will air every Monday to Friday at 10 PM, only on Discovery Science. Each episode of MANUFACTURED will tell the stories of the making of three great products. The opening of the series leads to an interview with the inventor and the history behind the product. From there, the story moves on to designs and prototypes, and finally to the factory floor where the workers narrate the tale of the making, while the viewers watch the product being made. From a toilet, to a Rimowa suitcase, a Stetson Skyline cowboy hat and a Zodiac Pro Open boat, there are numerous products with interesting stories to tell. MANUFACTURED talks to the people behind the scenes and brings viewers a step-by-step account of their making. Why it’s made, how it’s made, and who makes it. The series will tell the story of great products that we use or wish we could use. MANUFACTURED is a biography series where the product is the hero – be it a tool, a tire, or a toilet. The series takes viewers into the factories, and to the workers who make these great products a reality from scratch. Watch MANUFACTURED, only on Discovery Science!

]]>New Delhi, October 29, 2014: Discovery Science unveils the untold secrets of the universe with a new season of HOW THE UNIVERSE WORKS. The series will explore the inner workings of our world with unseen videos and images. With a dynamic cast of experts, the series will look under the celestial hood to reveal the secrets of our universe: the story of how it’s made and how it runs.
HOW THE UNIVERSE WORKS will premiere on November 3rd, Monday to Friday at 10 pm.
HOW THE UNIVERSE WORKS will answer questions that have eluded mankind for years such as, how did an apocalyptic planetary collision and a supernova create our world? How do orbits drive the dynamics of the universe? Could cosmic firestorms threaten life on Earth? The fascinating series uses modern astronomy to reveal the inner workings of outer space. From volcanoes and galactic mega storms to mineral rich asteroids and comets, discover how these titanic forces and extraordinary phenomenon have shaped our world and could reveal clues about the origins of life on earth and elsewhere in the universe.
Rahul Johri, Executive Vice President and General Manager – South Asia & South East Asia, Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific said, “Discovery Science continues to present the most comprehensive and cutting edge content that examines the impact of science on our everyday lives. With the help of a dynamic cast of experts and computer generated imagery, this series will educate viewers on how our universe is designed and built.”
Journey deep into space and examine the moons, planets and stars that make up the cosmos in ‘HOW THE UNIVERSE WORKS’ only on Discovery Science.
Some of the questions captured in “How the Universe Works” are:
Sun – How does light escape from the sun? The Sun, our star, generates heat and light, and is essential for all life on earth. But how does this light escape from the sun and get to us? We take a million year journey from the center of the sun, following the path of photons of light. We witness their fiery birth from nuclear fusion deep inside the core, their 430,000 mile odyssey up through the superheated dense hydrogen gas of the interior of the sun, fighting against gravity and magnetism. Finally we watch as they escape the solar surface, and leap into space at the speed of light.
End of the Universe – The Universe was born to die, but how and when will it end? Astronomers have sought the answer for 100 years and in the process revealed a Universe far weirder than we imagined. Invisible dark matter threatens to pull galaxies together in a catastrophic big crunch, a big bang in reverse. Dark energy is poised to act in the opposite direction, ripping apart all matter and perhaps even space and time. And now scientists suggest that a sudden phase transition could kill us all tomorrow in a cosmic death bubble. How will the Universe end? We finally know the answer.
