The P440 8X4 20.2 Cu.m U-BODY tipper offers increased payload carrying capacity and fuel efficiency in mining operations

Hyderabad, 11 July 2017: Scania CV India Pvt. Ltd., the leading commercial vehicle and engine manufacturing company today launched the new P 440 8X4 20.2 Cu.m U-BODY tipper. The P 440 U-BODY tipper has been designed to increase the productivity of mining tippers and improve the Total Operating Economy.

Scania India is committed to building innovative and sustainable solutions that meet the specific requirements of different sectors and regions. The P440 tipper was designed to meet demanding conditions in the Indian subcontinent and offer maximum operational capacity and fuel efficiency. The “U” design for the tipper body is the first in its class for overburden removal application. The body’s unparalleled combination of “U” design and superior wear resistant steel increases the payload carrying capacity by up to 5 percent while reducing the fuel consumption by almost 5 percent due to low self-weight of the tipper body. It also improves the stability of the vehicle by lowering the overall centre of gravity.

The P 440 U-BODY tipper comes with a mixture of time tested driveline and a new engine. It has a 13 litre, 440 HP engine and is capable of reaching peak torque at lower engine speed. It is BSIV compliant through Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. This when coupled with Scania patented Opticruise® gear shift technology keeps the gear shifts to an optimal number and directly benefits the customer by improving fuel efficiency.

The Indian mining sector needs tough vehicles that can ply under the most demanding of situations. With this in mind, Scania put the P 440 U-BODY tipper through intense testing for over 12000 hours of operations in some of the most demanding mines in India, before launching it in the market. This level of intense testing on each field test tippers is testimony to Scania’s commitment to ensuring product quality.

Speaking at the launch function, Mr. Raghavan Srinivasa, Director, Sales (Trucks) at Scania Commercial Vehicles India Pvt. Ltd. said, “We at Scania work to integrate sustainability into the core of the business. Scania leverages innovative thinking, develops partnerships and works extensively within the logistics flow to capture efficiencies and secure customer profitability. We are very confident that P 440 U-BODY tipper will deliver on our promise of driving even more value and profitability for our customers”

All Scania tippers also come with an option of choosing Fleet Management Services. This service enables the customer to remain in control of the fleet’s performance by providing information such as fuel consumption, tipper idling time, driving behavior and tipper’s position. When leveraged in conjunction with our Driver Coaching Program, the FMS ensures maximum productivity and profitability for the customer.

While talking about Scania’s commitment to offering complete solution to customer Ms. Hanna Johansson, Director, Business Support, Scania Commercial Vehicles India Pvt. Ltd. (on behalf of Mr. Mikael Benje, Managing Director) said, “Scania India firmly believes in having a true partnership with our customers. Besides being a manufacturer of heavy trucks and buses, Scania is increasingly developing new ways of delivering customer value based on a full service offering that delivers lifecycle profitability.”

The National champions will win an all-expense paid trip to Sweden, where they will get to visit headquarters of global Swedish companies, Swedish Universities and the Nobel Museum among other things.

In an endeavour to make the Quiz bigger and better and to build up the excitement in advance a few new elements have been introduced:

Scania brings world class transport solutions to the Indian market; now announces trial run

Scania, one of the world’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, has launched a new range of on-road trucks for trial runs in India. Through the launch of these trucks, Scania will continue with its heritage of offering customers world class products and services and being a trusted transportation partner, also for India.
Scania has undertaken extensive research prior to launching these new trucks in India. This is in line with Scania’s strategies to bring in innovative products and services, offering value through lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

The Scania truck models – the R 500 6×4, the G 460 6×4, the P 410 6×2 and the P 360 4×2 – are being made available to customers in the Indian on-road haulage segment.

Scania’s foray into the on-road haulage segment of the Indian market is completely customer focused on providing reliable, fuel efficient transport solutions with lesser impact on the environment. This will cater to the needs of diversified and growing segments in India such as long haul container handling, steel, chemical, special bulk transportation and Over Dimensional Cargo (ODC) transportation.

Mr. Nekzad J. Parabia, Director J.H. Parabia (Transport) Pvt. Ltd., Baroda said: “We value this relationship with Scania. Our expectations on the V8 engine truck are not only based on the high torque rating, but also that it should be a better powertrain for tough transportation assignments. We look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship.”

Speaking during the launch, Henrik Fagrenius, Managing Director, Scania Commercial Vehicles India said, “Today is an important milestone for all of us at Scania. We believe that Indian truck buyers will have the benefit of an added choice – trucks with outstanding fuel performance and reliability that offer them value for their investment.”

The Scania R 500 6×4 is a heavy-duty puller, which is rightly called “King of the Road” across the global markets, is powered by its best-in-class 500 horsepower V8 engine, offering a high low-speed torque rating, which is essential for super ODC transportation. With the automated gear changing system Scania Opticruise, this will be the first of its kind in the Indian market to carry the super Over Dimensional Cargo across the country in the most demanding highway conditions.

The Scania G 460 6×4 heavy duty puller powered by a 460 hp engine and also equipped with the Scania Opticruise that will help the driver to cruise with ease and comfort. The Scania G 460 offers the higher torque than any competitive 13-litre truck on Indian roads, thereby also redefining the ODC transportation in India.

The Scania P 410 6×2 prime mover, a multi-task master, is the first of its kind in the Indian market with a powerful 410 hp coupled with a liftable tag axle tailored to long haul transport. Scania P 410 promotes efficiency through fuel savings and faster turnaround times, thereby setting new standards in the logistics segment, with a significant shift in Total Cost of Ownership.

The Scania P 360 4×2 prime mover, powered by a 360 hp engine, is a specially engineered truck with high power and torque with rear air suspension that serve the needs of critical and fragile cargo transportation which require safety, lower turnaround time and offers a better solution through Life Cycle cost savings.
