Pocket Media has partnered with Peaks, an online investment app for everyone. This means that two Amsterdam AdTech and FinTech startups will collaborate intensively over the coming period on mobile user acquisition via mobile video and display advertising.

Peaks is a newly-launched investment app that makes it easy for you to invest your spare change. Pocket Media, a leading mobile performance advertising agency, is kicking off a user acquisition campaign. Now that the collaboration is official, both parties are keen to secure a prominent position in the App Store and to increase the number of valuable mobile users for the Peaks app.

How will Pocket Media help Peaks?

Pocket Media CEO Benjamin Pomerantz says: “First of all, we’re delighted about the collaboration with Peaks. Following our success with bol.com and Catawiki in the Netherlands, we’re looking forward to a long-term collaboration with Peaks. To start with, we’re keen to reach as many relevant app users as possible within a short period of time. Then comes a strategy aimed at bringing in as many valuable mobile users as possible. We do this on a performance basis, which means that the advertiser pays as soon as the app is installed. We are constantly focused on the quality of the new users who install the Peaks app in response to the advertisements displayed, and optimization and transparency are also enormously important to us.”

Peaks on the collaboration with Pocket Media:

Peaks co-founder Sijbrand Tieleman says: “We believe that everyone should be able to invest. Whether you have a lot of money or just a little, whether or not you have the discipline to put money aside, and whether or not you understand finance. That means that we want as many people as possible to use our app – but we also want our marketing to be transparent, in the same way that we’re transparent about how you invest with Peaks.”

Pocket Media (Amsterdam, 2012) is a mobile media agency specializing in mobile display and video advertising. With an international team of mobile experts, we offer support from strategy to implementation and optimization. Pocket Media is based in Amsterdam, New York, Singapore and Tel Aviv and operates in more than 180 countries worldwide.

27 April 2017: The countdown to announce the eight owners of Cricket South Africa’s new #T20 Global Destination League has begun.

The deadline for submission of ownership bid documents is 28 April at 17:00CSA announced its intention to host its own global T20 tournament with a worldwide tender notice in February this year, requesting Expressions of Interest from potential owners.

With phase two of the process approaching completion, potential owners have one last opportunity to submit their documents.

The tournament will include top international and local cricketers and will highlight South Africa as a world-class destination to watch cricket and at the same enjoy the tourism aspects of the country as well. In March, CSA received more than 150 Expressions of Interest (EoIs) from potential owners as part of the first phase of the process. The majority of interest came from South Africa, making up 39% of the total EoIs received, with India making up a whopping 35%. There was also significant interest shown from the UK, USA and the UAE.

“We have already seen great interest from South Africa and abroad in our franchise teams, and we anticipate some last minute submission applications from potential owners ahead of our 5pm deadline on Friday, 28 April,” says Haroon Lorgat, Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) Chief Executive.

To date CSA has signed eight marquee international players and eight marquee Protea players as part of the league. Each marquee Protea player will be allocated to a new franchise team based in the city he has either been historically associated with, or a city with which he can build a strong association.

“This is an opportunity that cannot be ignored. We are looking for prospective team owners who are passionate about cricket, as well as South Africa. They will share the same values and ideals in cricket and the country as we do,” added Lorgat.

The process to acquire one of the eight city-based teams is managed by EY. Following the submission of formal bids, CSA will evaluate the qualifying bids received and announce the successful owners in June.

The #T20 Global Destination League is set to knock cricket fans expectations out of the park with the tournament starting in early November and the final scheduled for 16 December.

microfocusNew virtual currency helps organizations to cut the cost and complexity of application performance testing

Mumbai, India, 12December 2013: Online Shopping Festivals and Christmas-themed marketing campaigns have given a major boost to online shopping in India in recent times. With website traffic peaks expected during this season, businesses need to guarantee their mobile and web applications will perform well under pressure and handle the upcoming onslaught of  online shoppers.According to comScore, among the BRIC Nations, India has been the fastest growing market adding over 18 million internet users and growing at an annual rate of 41%. Riding on a 31% year-on-year increase, India’s online population grew to 73.9 million. With an extended online universe in excess of 145 million the market is at a tipping point for online businesses. The study says about 60% Internet users in India visit online retail websites – and to retain them, businesses need to ensure they have a smooth experience.

In response, Borland, a Micro Focus company (LSE: MCRO.L), has launched Borland Credits – a new virtual currency that can be used to purchase Silk Performer CloudBurst testing services. The pre-paid model delivers application performance testing without the need for hardware assets, helping users to significantly reduce testing costs and complexity, quickly and efficiently.

A testing situation

According to global research, conducted by Vanson Bourne and commissioned by Borland,44% of CIOs are aware of the events that drive peak-traffic loads, but do not simulate website performance with heavy load testing to see if they can handle the increased pressure on their websites.  That’s despite knowing that even minor delays to website response times can have a sizable impact on customer satisfaction, page views, conversion rates and site abandonment.

Commenting on the challenge, Nitin Dang, Country General Manager, India at Micro Focus, said: “There is no denying the significance and prominance of a business’ online presence, especially in today’s economic environment.Even the most usable website or mobile application can be rendered useless if the backend infrastructure can’t handle the volume of traffic during peak times. Borland Credits is a wonderful initiative to tap the potential of the cloud and offer businesses a flexible way to future proof their websites”

“With the on going online shopping festivals as well as Christmas holidays being just around the corner, businesses need absolute confidence that their high-quality applications will perform well under pressure and handle peak loads.  However, managing and emulating hundreds of thousands of realistic end-users, from multiple regions, in order to load testan application can be time-consuming, complex and costly.  It’s enough to deter many businesses from testing in the first instanceadded Nitin Dang.

“We’ve created Borland Credits to offer businesses a forward-thinking and flexible way in which to get more from the cloud,” continued Nitin Dang. “Users will have easy access to our Silk Performer CloudBurst testing services – from anywhere in the world – without the need for unnecessary, costly infrastructure, which often sits around collecting virtual dust until it is needed.  We’re givingour customers better control over their testing expenditure, with the ability to ensure their applications run at optimum levels, wherever they may be.”

Users can choose between several packages, depending on how many Borland Credits are purchased in one go, without being locked into to a specific subscription plan or paying any service fees:

  • Cloud infrastructure: Rent unlimited cloud infrastructure by the hour, to execute a load test.

Unlimited virtual end-user licenses: Users can pay per virtual end-user within a 24-hour period, depending on the application type under test.

  • Spanning test periods:Purchase a 24-hour testing period model, which enables a load test to be tailored, run, analyzed and re-run multiple times without an additional charge.

Before any load test is conducted, Silk Performer CloudBurstwill display an estimate of how many Borland Credits will be used and on completion of a test, will calculate the number of Borland Credits to debit from the account to help users budget accordingly.

Through the new billing model and Borland Credit system users will also be notified by email, 24-hours in advance of when a load test agent is about to automatically close and will receive Virtual User Price Protection, so that if an application doesn’t scale to meet the loads anticipated, they will only pay for what they have used.

Borland Credits can be purchased via the Silk Performer Cloud Portal or a Borland sales representative.
