]]>Inspired by the skies for over 70 years, Swiss watch manufacturer Oris has been producing specialist aviation watches ever since the launch of its first Oris Big Crown in 1938. Born to satisfy the demands of fighter pilots in Normandy, this heroic timepiece has since spawned a whole collection of sky-bound watches.
Part of the elite ProPilot range, this addition to the Big Crown family confirms Oris’ allegiance to the skies. Harnessing decades of flight experience into a specialist timepiece, the Oris Big Crown ProPilot Day Date is designed with the accuracy and functionality demands of a pilot at its core.
Acknowledging the aviator’s need for minimal distraction whilst in command, enhanced legibility forms the foundation of the Oris Big Crown ProPilot Day Date’s unique design. Special developments to its Oris Calibre 752 movement allow a bolder, enlarged calendar indicator; whilst eye-catching Super-Luminova® inlayed hands, indices and numerals perfectly contrast against a simplified black dial for rapid recognition. Housed beneath a double-domed anti-reflecting coated sapphire crystal, this elite aviation watch offers paramount clarity in the air.
Borrowing style inspiration from the powerful turbine jets under a pilots command, the Big Crown ProPilot Day Date’s striking bezel features a coin edged top ring, case back and crown reminiscent of an airplane’s formidable engines. Crafted from a resilient stainless-steel casing, this serious timepiece has been aesthetically balanced to ensure it not only aids its pilot within the cockpit but is also a stylish accompaniment on land. A true homage to the precision engineering and meticulous skill involved in flight, the special Oris Big Crown ProPilot Day Date is designed for the sky.

Messe Frankfurt India and the Guild of Designers and Artists calls out to such aspiring interior designers, product designers, home stylists and companies to present their imaginative and avant-garde designs and concepts at the Interior Lifestyle Awards 2015 and take their ambitions to the next level.
The award, which aims to recognise the work of young and ambitious Indian artists in the architecture and home decor space will accept applications until 15April, 2015. An esteemed three-member jury panel comprising of textile and interior design industry’s icons LipikaSood, Ritu Kumar and Sunita Kohli will evaluate these designs and concepts on the basis of the innovative functionality, modernity and sustainability factors, following which eight finalists will move to the next round.
Elaborating on the creative potential of the Indian home furnishing industry Ritu Kumar said: “The Indian home furnishing industry being dependent on small runs is largely characterized by innovative design and patronizes pockets of local craft vendors. This brings out very design-oriented creations and adds a great deal of innovation to the home furnishing space in India. The awards produce competition and give recognition of individual creative efforts. The encouragement is important as is the opportunity to the exposure given to travel.” According to Ritu Kumar “the most important judging criteria apart from aesthetics will be the contemporary nature and use of the products that are created for both an international and Indian market place.”
