combaWireless solutions provider sees heavy growth in demand for in-building solutions, in line with projected growth of global market to $16.71 billion in 2020

May 17, 2016 — Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited, a global leading wireless solutions provider, is seeing heavy growth in the demand for its in-building solutions. This is in line with the projected growth of the global in-building wireless solutions market, set to be worth USD 16.71 billion in 2020[1]. In fact, Comba Telecom was recently commissioned by a major regional operator in Argentina where it delivered high quality wireless solution to the nation’s busiest international airport, which caters to an annual traffic of over 10.8 million people.

“In-building solutions have gained importance in light of the heavy proliferation of 4G roll-outs around the world. Today’s smart phone user expects an anywhere-anytime connection. As users we want mobile data delivered to us instantly and in the most seamless manner possible, which is why mobile operators are turning to in-building solutions,” noted Mr. Patrik Westfalk, Managing Director of the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) region at Comba. “This is definitely the trend we are seeing in the Latin American region, where in-building solutions are being implemented in several high-density public hotspots.”

Comba’s in-building solutions, which feature distributed antenna systems (DAS), are capable of handling voice and data traffic competently. This ensures efficient coverage in in-building environments, which is why the solution has become one of Comba’s top earners in the region and has been deployed at several high-density destinations such as international airports.

“Typical consumer behaviour at an airport spans making and receiving calls or messages, updating social media pages, and using apps. Top-notch voice and data coverage for each and every person is a must, in spite of the complex’s high visitor density. Active DAS solutions can manage this increased traffic,” commented Mr. Gabriel Monllor, Director of the Hispano-American Region at Comba.

To provide the international airport in Argentina with DAS solutions, Comba collaborated with its local partner Globo Group S.A. from Buenos Aires to design and implement the in-building solution, which will support different technologies such as 2G, 3G, and the latest LTE 4G within the structure.

“High-quality cellular data and voice coverage definitely plays a key role in ensuring that visitors of any public spot have a good experience. We have observed Comba’s user-friendly solutions in action, and they have always met the highest of standards,” said Mr. Marcelo Medano of Globo Group S.A.

Comba has provided its DAS solutions to several high-profile locations in the Caribbean and Latin America region, including structures in Argentina, Mexico, Columbia, Dominican Republic and Chile. Additionally, 8 out 12 stadiums for the 2014 international football tournament held in Brazil were outfitted with Comba’s solutions to ensure that the network capacity was enough to support the capacity needs of thousands of football fans.

combaWorld Bank recommends investment of USD 25 billion to take MENA region online; Comba introduces affordable LTE CPE solution designed to boost rural connectivity

Dubai, UAE – September 14, 2015: Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited, a global leading wireless solutions provider, is working towards tackling the digital divide between the region’s urban and rural populations – the firm today announced the availability of its new LTE CPE product series in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. This series is specifically designed to cost-effectively meet the wireless broadband needs of rural areas. Efforts to boost rural connectivity in an affordable manner have been underway for a few years now after the World Bank recommended an investment of at least USD 25 billion to fully develop fixed and wireless Internet access for the region[1].

“Urban broadband users are enjoying high-speed access provided by FTHH and ADSL, but what about those living in rural areas where fiber and ADSL are not available? About half the world’s population lives in rural areas, and approximately 30% of the Middle East’s population resides in rural areas. Our new LTE CPE product series meets the requirements of this faction of the population – it deals with the unserved and under-served parts of the market, thereby scaling up broadband penetration in rural economies,” said Ken Li, Solutions Manager at Comba Telecom.

By using LTE CPE, the existing LTE network can be extended to provide broadband coverage in rural areas where wired connections are either unavailable or not affordable due to the high cost of installations. Comba offers cost-effective rural wireless broadband solutions, which include outdoor Wi-Fi AP and CPE. Incidentally, the provider’s Wi-Fi CPE is designed with a waterproof enclosure and supports simple pole installation.

“Comba’s field-proven Wi-Fi solutions have been deployed in several rural zones within China – we are therefore quite experienced in providing comprehensive solutions for broadband access and Wi-Fi coverage in rural areas that lack wired infrastructure. Simply put, broadband has the potential to advance socio-economic development in MENA by facilitating Internet access and use, creation of digital content, and development of infrastructure, and we want rural areas to be part of this advancement,” added Li.

The annual four-day event is credited with driving major technology breakthroughs in the mobile industry, and each year draws top-of-the-line companies to showcase their hottest products. This edition of the MWC comes on the heels of research firm [1]Gartner’s forecast that global mobile data traffic is expected to grow 59% this year alone. 3G connections are expected to grow by 45.7% in 2015, while 4G users are expected to generate 46% of all mobile data traffic by 2018.

comba3.3 million voice calls and 21.2 million GB of data communications were carried on mobile networks in the first 56 games of the Fifa World Cup

Dubai, UAE:  July 13, 2014: While the world focuses its attention on the Football World Cup in Brazil, Comba Telecom Systems Holdings Limited, a leading global wireless solutions provider, is focusing its attention on the two million spectators attending the matches, ensuring that they have access to wireless services provided by mobile operators.

Comba Telecom was contracted by mobile operators to supply and install 2G/3G/4G LTE and Wi-Fi turnkey DAS (distributed antenna system). Offering its support across eight of the 12 stadiums with wireless solutions, Comba also ensured the availability of LTE and Wi-Fi at the Arena de Sao Paulo, the stadium that hosted the opening ceremony and opening games of the tournament.

“According to Sinditelebrasil, the association representing the Brazilian telecoms industry, 3.3 million voice calls and the equivalent of 21.2 million GB of data communications including emails, images and multimedia, were carried on the mobile networks in the first 56 games of the tournament – the majority of which were on 3G networks,” said Patrik Westfalk, managing director for the Caribbean and Latin America market of Comba.

In addition, Sinditelebrasil says data usage is accelerating as the competition progresses, with up to 8,000 photos per minute transmitted on mobile networks. Mobile traffic hit a peak earlier in the tournament, with fans making thousands of pre-game calls and exchanging hundreds of gigabytes of data to social networks and the like.

“Even with this peak, our integrated DAS handled the traffic competently and within the parameters set by our operator friends,” said Johnny Brito, general manager, Comba Brazil. “Typical user behavior at such events means there are traffic surges in voice and data just before the main event starts, with people calling to confirm their arrival at venues and, of course, updating their social network pages with selfies and status updates.”

Meanwhile, Comba Telecom will build additional R&D facilities which are in close proximity to its existing R&D Headquarters to help it meet the latest technological developments and innovations.

The new production plant and additional R&D facilities mark a new milestone in the Group’s continuing development. The new production plant greatly enhances the production capacity of the Group, enabling greater economies of scale and faster delivery of customer orders. The new R&D facilities will further strengthen its leading position by offering more innovative products and technologies that support multi-standard and multi-network deployment along network migration.

Mr. Zhang Yue Jun, Vice Chairman and President of Comba Telecom, said, “With the inauguration of the new production plant, the Group has significantly expanded its manufacturing capacity in all our businesses. Our R&D strength is expected to be further enhanced as well. Such facilities will bolster our leading market position, enabling us to grasp the enormous opportunities presented by 4G LTE and the Big Data Era. We will remain committed to providing innovative solutions to our customers and generating optimal returns to our shareholders.”
