Diamond MasterGraff Grand Date Dual Time Tourbillon

Graff orchestrates a fascinating encounter between Haute Horlogerie and Haute Joaillerie with its new creation: the Diamond MasterGraff Grand Date Dual Time Tourbillon. The result of more than 2,000 hours of development, its mechanical movement associates a flying tourbillon with a dual-time display and a large instantaneous date that jumps at exactly midnight. While the exclusive calibre reveals the beauty of its gear wheels through the sapphire crystal, the case and dial exalt the jewellery-making expertise of the House through a dazzling setting of 329 diamonds totalling 13.7 carats. Set against a backdrop of rose or white gold, the precious stones exercise their timeless powers of fascination and sparkle with radiant fire on a dial also lit up by an emerald at noon, as well as forming the emblematic Graff signature on the dial: an invisibly-set mosaic crafted using an exclusive technique resulting from a full year’s research.

Calobra Chronograph Limited Edition II

Oris takes us to the island of Mallorca for the Oris Rallye Clásico, of which it is the title sponsor. For the latest edition of this classic car rally, the brand unveils a chronograph which is inspired by the dashboard instruments of the 1960s and 70s sports cars taking part. Hour and minute counters have been rotated 270° while the mechanism is designed so that hands reset to zero between 8 and 9 o’clock, as on the counter of a stationary car. This new watch also takes its colours from car dashboards. The back is engraved with a “tieknot” representing the hairpin bends in the mountain roads where the race is held. This chronograph is proposed as a 250-piece limited series. The Oris Calobra Day Date Limited Edition II, also a special issue for the 2015 rally, is made as a 1,000-piece limited series.

i_3253_1Corum

Golden Bridge Dragon & Phoenix

Corum has let its creativity run free and orchestrated an encounter between two of the most fascinating creatures in Chinese mythology: the dragon, symbol of life and strength, and the phoenix, bearer of good omens. Joined together by the legendary baguette movement that is exclusive to Corum, these mythical beasts bring the promise of prosperity. Hand-sculpted from gold, they come to life through meticulous engraving; a single piece takes three weeks to complete. This Golden Bridge Dragon & Phoenix is a lesson in mechanical virtuosity too, as revealed by the linear architecture of the CO113 calibre whose vertical axis is prolonged by the crown at 6 o’clock to further highlight its exceptional construction. The movement is enclosed inside the transparency of a tonneau case with crystal, back and sides all in sapphire, so that the eye can embrace both dragon and phoenix in their three dimensions.

i_3266_1De Bethune

DB28 GS

Each De Bethune watch places innovation at the centre of the creative process, all the while perpetuating the spirit of the Enlightenment’s great master watchmakers. The new DB28 GS upholds this same philosophy, with four patented inventions inside its calibre. The self-regulating twin barrel delivers six days of power reserve. The balance spring terminal curve, and the annular balance in silicon and white gold, with its lighter weight and maximum inertia, are breakthroughs in watchmaking technology that guarantee the movement’s performance and precision. A triple pare-chute shock-absorber system protects the movement by a titanium bridge mounted on springs. The DB28 GS also stands out for its remarkable wearer comfort, a combination of lightweight titanium, the crown at 12 o’clock, and the patented floating lugs which adapt to suit the thickness and movements of the wrist.

A legendary watch and longtime star of the Eterna collections, the KonTiki returns with a brand-new heart. And what a heart! The first of 88 possible variations of the new Calibre 39 by Eterna – a Manufacture movement based on an ultra-rational construction and capable of generating interpretations ranging from a two-hand manually-wound version through to an automatic chronograph. And all that in chronometer-precision quality! Three screws are enough to secure any and all of the modules or sub-assemblies, themselves composed of a limited number of parts. The first variation of this refined mechanism features a dual-time display elegantly staged on a dial by means of a red pointer sweeping around a light-and-dark-shaded ring corresponding to nighttime and daytime hours. The robust and sporty new case of the Royal KonTiki borrows its sandblasted curved grooves from the 1970s models, while proudly sporting a curvaceous case that is unmistakably its own.

i_3176_1HARRY WINSTON

Midnight Feathers Automatic 42mm

In 2012 Harry Winston brought together two age-old forms of expertise that, until then, nothing had destined to meet: watchmaking, the infinitely complex art of time measurement, and plumasserie, the rare and almost forgotten craft of creating art from feathers. The new Midnight Feathers Automatic 42mm now leads us on a fascinating journey into the deepest realms of the animal and plant kingdoms, for the colours of the feathers suggest the amber-tinted roots of vetiver, bulrushes and cedar wood. Each watch is a unique experience as each hand-crafted dial naturally varies with the individual feathers and the master craftsman’s touch. With infinite patience, each remige, or flight feather, is selected, coaxed into shape then laid in its exact position on the dial, using a loupe for the greatest possible precision. The visually striking marquetry plays on alternating colours, further accentuated by the perfect harmony between the pink gold of the case and the chocolate shades of the alligator strap.

Turbine Skeleton Réf. A3038/1A

A concentrated blend of more than 200 years of horological heritage combined with a resolutely innovative spirit, the iconic Turbine by Perrelet gets a complete makeover to welcome its first skeleton movement: redesigned dimensions, new aesthetic details, an evolution in materials. An authentic ode to transparency, the Turbine Skeleton reveals the internal structure of its entirely openworked Manufacture P-381 calibre. Exalting the beauty of this sculptural composition, the black aluminium turbine is fitted directly on the under-dial, itself openworked, so as not to obstruct the view of the heart of the watch. Spinning at full speed, the Turbine Skeleton provides fascinating glimpses through its openings of the mechanism’s ethereal architecture. Never before had it been possible to admire a skeleton movement in this way. The stunning vision is accentuated by the fascinating contrasting effects between the black of the turbine and the pink gold of the bezel and inner bezel ring, while the red-clad seconds hand lends the ultimate touch of style to this composition distinguished by its inimitable design.

Amid the tranquillity of the small village of Tramelan, at the heart of the Jura mountains, the cradle of Swiss watchmaking, time appears to have stood still. Here, in the Auguste Reymond workshops, watches are still made almost as they were in the early days of the brand, more than a century ago. The new Cotton Club Moonphase is no exception to this rule. Crafted in keeping with the grand Swiss watchmaking tradition, the watch beats to the rhythm of a mechanical movement hand-made in a highly exclusive small series. Doing justice to its “Time to Swiss” campaign, Manjaz plunges into the very heart of traditional Swiss watchmaking and offers glimpses of the mechanical movement that beats inside the Skeleton Ref. 7703M. Certain of its secrets are divulged through an elegant S-shaped opening in the dial: S for Swiss, of course. However, this finely crafted mechanism – whose balance oscillates at a high frequency of 8 vibrations a second – only reveals its true colours when the watch is turned over. Then the mechanism can be contemplated at leisure through the sapphire back.

i_3166_1MATTHIA S & CLAIRE

Etrusca

Matthia’s & Claire presents Etrusca and once again displays its watchmaking and jewellery-making talent. The gemset yellow gold model enriching the existing jewellery collection refers to an historical period known for its magnificent goldsmithing: the Etruscan civilisation of which the Ticino-based brand reproduces the distinctive granulation technique. This consists of adorning the surface to be decorated with thousands of tiny gold granules and of fixing them to the piece of jewellery by soldering, yet without modifying their finesse. The bezel and bracelet links display this 7th century B.C. expertise now interpreted in a timepiece.
