Geneva, Switzerland, 7 October 2016 – Jeremy Jurgens, Chief Information and Interaction Officer at the World Economic Forum, has been appointed to the organization’s Managing Board.
As the Fourth Industrial Revolution prompts ever faster change, Jurgens leads the Forum’s technology and knowledge activities. He has led the development of mobile and collaborative technology applications that provide the Forum’s multistakeholder communities of leaders with contextual intelligence, so that they can collaborate more effectively and address potentially disruptive opportunities and threats. He has pioneered the development of hybrid intelligence that harnesses machine intelligence and human expert networks to show the most relevant connections among economies, industries and issues, complemented with insights from world-class thought leaders.
“I am honoured to join the Managing Board at this critical time. Technology and contextual intelligence play an integral role in our work to address the world’s major challenges, and I am pleased to contribute to the World Economic Forum’s mission,” said Jurgens.
Jurgens holds Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and International Relations from Claremont McKenna College and a Master’s degree in Education from Harvard University. He has worked in education and technology at the Japanese Ministry of Finance, National Public Radio in the US and at Microsoft before joining the World Economic Forum in 1999. He held a variety of senior directorships, including responsibility for engagement of the Forum’s Global Growth Companies and Technology Pioneers, before establishing the Forum’s Beijing Representative Office in China. In doing so, the Forum became the first international foundation to be legally recognized by the Chinese government. Jurgens is married with two sons. His interests include experiential education, sustainability, alpine climbing, Aikido and literature.
