What the Indian Industry wants from the New Year-

Layam LogoQ1. What is the one thing that you wish for the benefit of your industry segment?

With the economy turning around for the the good and the exceptional opportunities that 2014 created, the next year will see an increasing demand for talent. To fuel this demand, the nation needs people with the right business sense.

Developing people skill to augment the growing needs of the industry would go a long way in meeting the challenges and competing environment that the country will have going forward. The industry also needs to concentrate on Tier II and Tier III cities and try and develop them.

Q2. What will be the most important thing that you would like to achieve in 2015?

As for our future plans, we are looking to expand our operations to central and eastern India, including Bhopal, Orissa and Kolkata. We are also in talks with a multinational company for a joint venture to introduce a training module in sales. As of now we are concentrating on the manufacturing sector but we are now looking in to e-commerce and retail sector also.We are very confident about the future and have set a target of Rs 100 crore turnover in the next two years.

Q3. What is your message to our readers for the year ahead?

2015 will be a year of opportunity. But the greatest challenge for HR is HR. In today’s world, we are hiring in great numbers but managing the people is the challenge. We do not have trained and skilled HR professionals to manage the talent. HR managers should also be relationship-savvy.

While HR is expected to be employee sensitive, he/ she should also be aligned to business growth and be a partner bridging the employee and management. To facilitate the growth of the organisation, HR plays a key role in building the right culture, environment and mind-set.In our country, the HR first need to have a good plan and methodical. Instead of aping the western methodology of hire and fire, we need to adopt a patient and process driven approach and focus more on the basics.
