Coaltrans Global Thermal Coal Outlook 23 – 24 January 2013 London, United Kingdom

What does the future hold for Thermal Coal?

The thermal coal industry is facing many big issues. The economic downturn, the availability of cheap gas, increasing environmental regulations (in the West), growing demand from China and India, increasing moves towards the nationalisation of mining resources, as well as the ongoing negative public perception of coal as being dirty and a pollutant.

No holding back!

This event will tackle each of these issues head on, no holding back. The agenda is written in the form of questions and the aim of the conference is to discuss the potential solutions/answers to these. Event Details

IMPORTANT NOTE: The event will be closed to the press, under Chatham House Rules meaning that the speakers and delegates can openly discuss the topics under discussion.

Join the debate on the big issues facing the industry:

  • Will climate change legislation allow coal to have a future in the West?
  • What can the industry do to counteract the negative public perception of coal?
  • Can coal compete against gas for power generation?
  • Will the high demand for coal in China and India continue?
  • Will the rise of resource nationalism in key markets inhibit investors?
